Chabliz

Samen met mijn bandleden van Chabliz maak ik avontuurlijke pop-noir, jazz-noir, gothicjazz en jazzy ballades, met artpop- en opera invloeden en een snuf Lynchiaanse filmmuziek in de sfeer van Angelo Badalamenti en Ennio Morricone.

In oktober 2022 kwam ons vierde album, getiteld 'Heroes and Foes' uit. In 2023 volgden een collab EP samen met de band Dizzy Panda en in mei 2024 is onze nieuwe 'Senta' videoclip uitgebracht. Deze kwam in de finale van diverse filmfestivals terecht, waaronder die van Austin, Texas en Barcelona. Daarnaast geven we diverse optredens en livestream concerten. Momenteel werken we hard aan ons volgende album. We verwachten in de eerste helft van 2026 een nieuwe EP uit te brengen en in het begin van 2027 ons vijfde album.

In 2016 tourden we in met Chabliz in New York, USA. Twee jaar eerder wonnen wij de Publieksprijs op het Delft Fringe festival (in de categorie 'muziek'). De afgelopen jaren brachten we ook een aantal videoclips uit. De albums van Chabliz kregen veel mooie recensies, we bestormden de Lowlands-lijst, de Snob 2000, de Cool Top 20 en de Free 40 charts en de Popunie riep onze Nightporter cd uit tot album van de maand. We hebben de afgelopen jaren vele optredens gegeven door heel Nederland. Ook hebben we vijf keer getoerd in Boekarest, Roemenië. Daar traden we op in diverse theaters, o.a. op het Europafest Festival, in het Hardrockcafé, en voor de Roemeense televisie. Ook de komende tijd treden we op in Nederland en de ons omringende landen. Tijdens corona gaven we diverse livestream concerten. Daarna zijn we doorgegaan met livestreams, naast de live concerten die we in diverse venues gaven en geven. De livestream concerten die we sinds medio 2023 geven zijn concerten met compleet geïmproviseerde muziek, waarbij we ook het gebruik van synthesizers niet schuwen.

De cd “Nightporter” is geproduceerd door Wim Oudijk (o.a. bekend van de hits van Doctorandus P en Venus Flytrap). Wim is helaas in september 2016 overleden.

In de herfst van 2017 kwam het album “Straight Stories” van Chabliz uit. Ook deze cd kreeg goede recensies in diverse muziektijdschriften, o.a. in de OOR en de Muziekwereld. Chabliz

With my band Chabliz I make adventurous pop-noir, gothic jazz, artpop and jazzy ballads with Lynchian film- & opera influences.
We won the Public Award at Delft Fringe Festival (in the music category). In the last years we released a number of music videos. 

The previous albums of Chabliz received many excellent reviews.

We released a single in the Summer of 2021 and in December '21 we released a brand new EP.  Our fourth complete album was released in October 2022 and got great reviews in the music press. In 2023 we released a collab-EP together with the band Dizzy Panda and in May 2024 our new music video has been released. 

We took the Lowlands list by storm and the Popunie chose our Nightporter album as their CD of the month. We also reached the Dutch Snob 2000 several times, and the Cool Top 20 as well as the Free 40 indie charts. We have given many performances in the Netherlands over the past years. We also toured five times in Bucharest, Romania. There we performed in various theaters, among others at the Europafest Festival, at the Hard Rock Café, and for the Romanian national television. The coming time we will also perform in the Netherlands and our surrounding countries. During corona (and 'afterwards') we gave and give several livestream concerts. Since medio 2023 we also give livestream concerts with completely improvised music. 

The Nightporter album was produced by Wim Oudijk (known from the hits of Doctorandus P and Venus Flytrap). Wim unfortunately passed away in 2016.
In 2016 we also toured in New York City, USA, and gave three concerts at different venues, plus a radio performance for the Real Radio Show. In 2017 our Straight Stories album was released. This album also received great reviews in various music magazines, including in the OOR and the Muziekwereld ('Music World'). A new music video was released in May 2024. This music video reached the finals of filmfestivals in Austin, Texas, Barcelona AND The Hague! We're currently working on new material for our next EP, to be released in the first half of 2026, and our fifth album, to be released in the beginning of 2027.
